Weight problems are extremely complex and most diet plans do not address the reasons behind why you can’t/don’t/won’t stick to a plan. Many of us use food, both consciously and subconsciously as a substitute for affection, love and connection. You can control your weight through diet, and willpower, but as we all know, at some point, your willpower runs out. You get caught off-guard, something knocks you over and before you know it you’re back on the spiral of out-of-control eating and self-loathing.
There are more spiritual approaches which coach you to love yourself, love your body, be satisfied and grateful. Stop and examine your feelings when you feel the urge to eat. But if you know all that, and you’re still struggling, what then?
You can understand all that intellectually but if you’re feeling deprived and resentful because you can’t have the food you crave, then you’ve still got some healing to do.
